What can you expect when you go on the Emmaus Walk?

The “Walk to Emmaus” is a 72 hour experience (Thursday evening to Sunday). The time is spent studying, discussing, worshiping and living together at Emseni Christian Centre, Kempton Park. There are 15 talks delivered by clergy and laity that form the basis of discussions and projects. These present theses of God’s grace and how grace comes alive in the Christian community and expresses itself in the world. Holy Communion will be celebrated daily and you will begin to understand more fully the presence of Christ in the body of his believers. The prayers and acts of love and of a living support community enhance this experience.

What can you expect when you go on Chrysalis Flight?

You’ll spend three days with other people your age in worship, prayer, fellowship, creative expression, recreation, singing and discussion. You’ll  experience the love of God through prayers and the acts of service from a loving support community. Think of it as three days for you to discover or re-discover your spiritual self, to analyse and realize who you are in Christ. You’ll hear talks that focus on the needs of maturing youth and young adults, the message of the gospel and the love and example of Jesus Christ. Each day speakers present topics with life examples, followed by discussion, reflection and creative expression of how these messages can encourage your personal faith.

What should you take with on the weekend?

You will need to bring suitable casual clothing. We suggest shoes that will keep your feet warm and dry. Most of your time will be spent in the conference room, however we will be moving about, so include a jacket or warm jersey for the evenings and a raincoat/umbrella in case of wet weather. Please bring your own toiletries, towels and bedding – sheets & blankets, or sleeping bag and pillow. Don’t forget your Bible and a torch. Laptops & camera’s are not allowed.
